BUCHAREST COMMUNIST HERITAGE

Tour description: The capital of Romania is not just an ex-communist city. This tour will provide you with the means to understand the hundreds of years of history and various influences that make up the bustling city Bucharest is today. From the remains of the medieval court of the famous Vlad the Impaler, to splendid fin de siècle palaces of the former aristocrats and megalomaniac structures of communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu – this one-day tour will help you take it all in.
We begin our tour with a 2 ½ drive to Bucharest when you have the time to familiarize yourself with the historical background and find out about communism in Romania. Then you see it all when we arrive in Bucharest. We see the sights of the Romanian revolution of 1989 and visit the second largest building in the world – the Parliament of Romania. The afternoon is reserved for the charm of the old city – a walk in “centrul vechi”, the old historical center where we can enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants or a cup of coffee in one of the cafes. We finish the day with a drive through the city to see the landmarks of the capital of Romania before we head back to the port.
