Constanta Food and Cultural Tour 

Tour description: We believe that the cuisine of a country tells a lot about its culture and history. This tour gives you the opportunity to experience first-hand the ethnical mix Constanta was and still is today and then to taste it in its delightful culinary experiences: “mamaliga” (the famous polenta) and mixed grilled meats, an assortment of various local cheeses and delicious cold vegetable stew we call “zakuska”, all sprinkled with local wine or beer and interesting stories about our food. 
We begin the tour in Constanta with a stroll in the old historical city, pay a visit to the Archaeological museum and to Ovid, the famous Roman poet who found his end here, and then we get to experience the religious tolerance typical of Constanta with the Orthodox Church, the Turkish Mosque, the Catholic Church and the Jewish Synagogue within walking distance from one another. We end the tour with the promenade by the Black Sea and the Casino and delicious food tasting in one of the local restaurants.

Constanta Past and Present City Tour

Tour description: This tour helps you connect the dots of the eclectic city Constanta is today. From the exquisite marble statues and artifacts of the Greek and Roman heritage to the unprecedented development of the city at the end of the 19th century and the complete redesign of the communist period – you need a local to make sense of it all.
We begin our tour with a visit to the Archaeological Museum and then move next door to see the remains of the ancient Roman mosaics. We follow Ovid, the unfortunate poet who found his end here, and find out his sad story. We continue our tour with a walk in the streets of the historical district of Constanta and slowly reach the promenade and its romantic Casino and Genoese lighthouse at the Black Sea, the landmarks of the city. On the way, we get to understand the essence of religious tolerance of Eastern Europe with four major worship places located within 300 meters of one another. The tour ends with a drive to Mamaia, Romania’s best resort on the Black Sea Coast, and some time at the beach for shopping and refreshments.

Constanta “Ethnic Mosaic” Walking Tour

Tour description: Constanta is a two- millennia old city striving to find its rightful place in the 21st century. Its historical quarter bears the marks of all the various peoples and ethnic groups that lived here throughout the centuries. Fifty years of communism scattered them across the globe – some went back to their countries, others crossed the ocean to find their freedom, a few stayed behind to keep the community together.
Our walking tour will take you into the narrow streets of the historical district of Constanta and we will discover the secret of this amazing mix of cultures and civilizations. Walk past the Greek Orthodox Church, the Armenian Church, the Jewish Synagogue and Turkish Mosque to reach the Catholic Church right next door to the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral. Relax by the statue of the great Roman poet Ovid, take your time and sip a cup of coffee in front of the beautiful building of the Archaeological Museum and then head to the Black Sea shores to see the grandiose Casino and its lovely promenade.

Lunch with the Locals in the Countryside

Tour description: Almost half the population of Romania live in rural areas and still share a traditional way of living that is long gone in other parts of the country. This tour is the perfect opportunity to meet local people and get to know exactly how they are and what their life is like. They may not speak your language, but they welcome you into their home and share their lunch with you. Visit their home, meet the neighbours, pick your own vegetables from the garden and taste their home-made wine.
We begin the tour in Constanta with a stroll in the old historical city and then we visit the ethnographic museum to have an introduction into Romanian traditions. Then, we drive to a small village located 45 minutes south of the city and meet the locals. After lunch and wine and some music, we make our way back to the ship.

Our tour starts with the former Greek colony of Tomis, present day city of Constanta, where we explore one of the best archaeological museums in south-eastern Europe and the remains of the Roman mosaics and discover what brought the famous poet Ovid on the shores of the Black Sea. We continue by exploring the present-day city of Constanta and then we relax by the beach in Romania's most famous beach resort. We finish the day with a drive through the countryside outside the city of Constanta towards the abandoned former ancient colony known as Romania's Pompeii, the 7th century B.C.
